LAW6151   Global Justice and International Economic Law   (15 credits)

Year Running: 2016/2017
Credit level: F7
Co-requisites   LAW685 Legal Research Writing Skills

Description

Justice is a recurring demand in debates about international economic law. However, it is often difficult to know what economic justice means beyond the state. On issues from free trade to labour rights, pharmaceutical patents, and investment protection, economic justice is regularly invoked on both sides of the debate, leading many to dismiss it as mere rhetoric, a smokescreen for self-interest and economic illiteracy. This module introduces perspectives from political philosophy, international relations and international law to understand what economic justice might mean beyond the state, and how it might help us understand specific issues in international economic law.
